Quality Assurance Committee

ELC Quality Assurance Unit

 

 

A higher committee on quality assurance is formed normally by the Director, Assistant Director, Head of the QAU, and members having direct responsibilities to the activities of the ELC. Our success lies in the fact that the following factors are carefully observed:

 

        An active support and commitment to quality improvement from the Director and Director Assistant

 

        An environment that promotes innovation  and recognition to outstanding achievement

 

        Openness of staff to attain feedback on work performance, to new ideas, and to advice and get constructive suggestions from colleagues and stakeholders

 

        Recognition by faculty and staff of the need for cooperation in a team approach to quality assurance

 

        Willingness of faculty and staff to improve their skills and participate in the ELC strategies for improvement

 

        Integration of quality assurance processes in to normal administration

 

Common Responsibilities are to lead, coordinate and support quality assurance processes in all the services provided by the ELC through approved processes and strategies. Responsibilities keep expanding every year. However, the main responsibilities may be summarized below.

 

        To promote the importance of quality assurance and devicing strategies to achieve it

 

        To provide or arrange training for staff at the ELC for quality assurance processes

 

        To develop and recommend standard forms for use at the ELC for conducting surveys and reporting on quality indicators such as teaching evaluations, employer or graduate surveys, and program or subject specifications and reports

 

        To provide reference material and disseminating information about developments in quality assurance and accreditation

 

        To maintain files and records of plans, reports, statistical information, and other information for reference over time, and to follow up on plans for improvement to monitor implementation and evaluate success

 

        Preparing annual reports on quality assurance for the ELC Administration and the Quality Committee drawing on key performance indicators and consolidated information from officers’ reports from various colleges

 

        Leading periodic self-study for the ELC, coordinating these with the timing and conduct of program self-studies with the Deanship of Quality Assurance and Academic Development at Jazan University
