The Research Centre for Environmental Studies (RCES) was established by Jazan University in 2010. It is located at the College of Science under the supervision of the Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research. It aims to promote basic and applied science and international cooperative work in the field of ecology. This is to provide an academic unit within the University that would foster the institution's goal of discovery and dissemination of critical knowledge to the community of Jazan which has a population of a million and a half in an area of 16000 square kilometers. The Centre is to serve as a research and advisory asset to the Jazan community.
