Recruit a highly calibre of researchers those able to produce a high standard and good quality of research.

Build Saudi's human capacity in a range of ecological research areas by attracting and retaining, from within Saudi Arabia and abroad, researchers of high international standing as well as the most promising research students.

The RCES should focus on specialities that is producing internationally acclaimed research outputs, addressing important ecological issues and is assisting Saudi Arabia in its shift towards becoming innovation led economy and society. 

Develop relationships and build networks with major national and international centres of excellence and research programs to help strengthen research, achieve global competitiveness and gain recognition for Saudi research.

Undertake highly innovative and potentially transformational research that aims to achieve international standard in the fields of research envisaged and leads to a significant advancement of capabilities and knowledge.

The RCES should be able to get financial support through submitting a high standard research proposal to the funding bodies.

The results of the research in the RCES should be published in a high  impact and good standard of journal in the field of its speciality.      

The RCES should be of such repute in the wider community that it will serve as a points of interaction among higher education institutions, governments, industry and the private sector generally.

To create a good, practical, useful  mechanism for assessing research grant proposals.

Develop a specialized collection of important (medically, economically or ecologically) groups or families  plants and animals which have been reliably identified by experts who specialize in these groups of animals and plants.  These collections will be available to other scientists and students from Universities and other institutes.
